A Little Bit About Me
I live in Denver and haven't met a coffee shop I don't like. When I'm not hiking nor being active, you'll find me hanging out with my dog, playing cribbage with my husband, or curling up with a good book.
From Athlete to Health Coach: My Personal Journey
As a lifelong athlete, I've been privy to all the performance "hacks", and it took experiencing disordered eating followed by poor performance to allow me to fully understand whole-person, functional health. Now, I'm able to enjoy food without restriction nor rules, engage in physical activity with varying levels of difficulty, wake up feeling rested & energetic, and manage stress before it becomes overwhelming.
A Day in My Life
My days are filled with passions and pursuits that fuel my soul and body. Currently, I'm reading "The Right Kind of Wrong," and love listening to The Head & the Heart. In my free time, you'll find me hiking, playing soccer, cooking, or indulging in my love for F1 racing.
Hydration and sunlight exposure are my daily non-negotiable health habits, and I'm always tinkering in the kitchen. The last meal I cooked? Tunisian meatballs from Roaming Radish – a dish as nourishing as it is delicious.
Technology also plays a significant role in my daily wellness. Apps like Garmin Connect and All Trails keep me on track, while Libby provides endless reading material.
One Wellness Myth I’d Like to Bust:
A lot of people believe that going low on carbs is the magic formula for health. But here’s the thing: carbs are our main source of energy. Rather than cutting them out, I recommend choosing the right kinds of carbs – think veggies, fruits, and whole grains – for about 90% of your meals. It’s about balance, so make sure to always pair these carbs with some protein and fats too. This way, you're not just cutting carbs, but making smarter, healthier choices.
What’s Always in My Fridge and Pantry:
You'll always find eggs, smoked salmon, beef jerky, bell peppers, beets, goat cheese, and blueberries in my pantry. And I love making homemade energy bites – a much healthier alternative to processed bars.
The Most Rewarding Part of Being a Health Coach
The most fulfilling aspect of my role as a health coach is observing the unique journey of each individual as they discover and embrace their health potential. There's an immense sense of satisfaction in seeing someone realize that a healthy lifestyle can be both enjoyable and effortless.
A Piece of Advice I Wish Everyone Knew
Health is not linear, nor is there an expiration date; it's a lifelong process that if we're lucky, we get to practice for a very long time.
